First you need to make sure that your bird has diarrhea. Sometimes your bird can make watery stools because they eat. Consuming too much egg food or too much greens can cause the bird to watery stools. This does not mean that your bird has diarrhea. Diarrhea lasts more than 12 hours. Therefore, you need to keep your bird under surveillance.

The main causes of diarrhea in cockatiels

Stress is one of the most important causes of diarrhea. In this sense, if you try to catch your bird by hand, it may cause stress by frightening it.
The cage environment is very dirty, there is no grill at the base of the cage and your bird eating their own feces is also among the diarrhea. Therefore, regular cleaning of the cage is very important for your bird’s health.
Poisoning due to any food he eats or not changing the drinking water daily also causes diarrhea. The cold-related factors also cause your bird to have diarrhea. Therefore, be careful not to keep your bird in the wind, that is, the air flow is high. In addition, after washing your bird, keep it in an environment where the room temperature is normal, because cockatiel do not like the wind and become ill quickly.

Before starting treatment of diarrhea, it is useful to know the reasons that may cause diarrhea. First of all, the bird’s cage, grates, feeders and drinkers should be thoroughly disinfected. It is useful to wash the materials with hot water, you can throw salt into the water during washing.

Grid wire is absolutely necessary under the cage, if your cage does not fit the grill, it is important for your bird’s health to replace the cage. Otherwise, your bird will have to constantly struggle with diseases.

Another method you can use for therapeutic or preventive purposes is to drip a few drops of apple cider vinegar into your bird’s drinking water once a week. This will help make it more resistant. For this, 2-3 drops of apple cider vinegar to a normal sized watering is enough.

In addition, boiled rice and potato is one of the methods used in the treatment of diarrhea. If your bird doesn’t eat the boiled rice or potatoes you have given, put the boiled water in the water after cooling it, and that will be enough. You can do this application once a week, even if your bird does not have diarrhea.
